What's A Little Ridicule Amongst Friends...
Bold Assertions for So Little Evidence


Olympic fever must have caught hold of the world of archeology, because it's not clear to me how the absence of household rubble would otherwise lead one to conclude that a ring fort was used as a bronze age sports arena.

And yet this is precisely the claim that the IrishTimes.com is making on behalf a team of archeologists --who will go unnamed for obvious reasons.


Perhaps if they had found sports banners, old sausages, chips, and beer kegs I might agree. But none of these sports related items were mentioned and so I can only hope that there's more information to come out of the study of the Rathnadrinna Ring Fort.
