Cool! 100+ Year Old Brandy Found in Antartica

IrishTimes.com is reporting that "[T]hree crates of Scotch whisky and two crates of brandy buried under Antarctic ice for more than 100 years have been recovered by a heritage team restoring Irish-born explorer Ernest Shackleton’s hut."

Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton, CVO, OBE (15 February 1874 – 5 January 1922), according to Wikipedia "was an Anglo-Irish explorer who was one of the principal figures of the period known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. His first experience of the polar regions was as third officer on Captain Scott’s Discovery Expedition, 1901–04, from which he was sent home early on health grounds. (wikipedia link)

There are plans to analyze the alcoholic beverages to see if they are worth duplicating. The original company, MacKinlay & Co, is no longer in business.
